Together with prior studies, the results support the possible influence of sialic acid O-acetylation and O-acetyl migration to host-microbe interactions and potential application of the more stable synthetic N-acetyl mimics.Photocatalysis is an effective and environmentally friendly approach for degrading organic pollutants, particularly in scenarios where sunlight can be utilized as the energy source. Opportunities are emerging to apply materials and methods from photocatalytic pollutant degradation to address the challenge of fouling. Membrane fouling, attributed to organic foulants, is a prevalent problem for all membrane-based technologies and represents a major deleterious impact on membrane performance. Integration of tactics developed in photocatalysis more broadly to membranes reveals new strategies for membrane fouling control-an approach taken by an increasing number of researchers. This review summarizes key developments in photocatalytic materials and methods in water treatment and presents recent progress in the development of processes for photocatalytic alleviation of membrane fouling, including photocatalyst design and modification strategies aimed at enhancing photocatalytic efficiency, as well as different configurations of photocatalysis-membrane systems (PMS). Perspectives on future research and development opportunities for photocatalytic membrane fouling control are also provided. As an important cathode candidate for the high-performance sodium ion batteries (SIBs), P2-type oxides with layered structures are needed to balance the specific capacities and cycling stability. As a result, a cation and anion codoped strategy has been adopted to tune the electrochemical activity of the redox centers and modulate the structure properties. Herein, a series of P2-Na0.6Mn0.7Ni0.3O2-xFx (x = 0, 0.03, 0.05, and 0.07) cathodes with microsphere structures are synthesized, using a solid-state reaction in the presence of MnO2 microsphere self-templates. Compared with the cation-doped Na0.6Mn0.7Ni0.3O2, additional F-doping can affect the lattice parameters and redox centers of Na0.6Mn0.7Ni0.3O2-xFx. Comprehensively considering the specific capacities, cycling stability, and rate capability, the optimized x value in Na0.6Mn0.7Ni0.3O2-xFx is determined to be 0.05. In the half cells, Na0.6Mn0.7Ni0.3O1.95F0.05 (F-0.05) maintains a capacity of 90.5 mA h g-1 in the first cycle at 1.0 A g-1, giving a capacity retention of 78% within 900 cycles. The superior rate capability of F-0.05 is guaranteed by the larger diffusion coefficient of Na+ (DNa) combined with higher charge transfer speed. In addition, when coupled with MoSe2/PC anodes, the full cells also exhibit impressive electrochemical performance.Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is a powerful technique for mapping surface reactivity and investigating heterogeneous processes on the nanoscale. Despite significant advances in high-resolution SECM and photo-SECM imaging, they cannot provide atomic scale structural information about surfaces. By correlating the SECM images with atomic scale structural and bonding information obtained by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques with one-to-one correspondence, one can elucidate the nature of the active sites and understand the origins of heterogeneous surface reactivity. To enable multitechnique imaging of the same nanoscale portion of the electrode surface, we develop a methodology for using a TEM finder grid as a conductive support in SECM and photo-SECM experiments. In this paper, we present the results of our first nanoscale SECM and photo-SECM experiments on carbon TEM grids, including imaging of semiconductor nanorods.Antibacterial hydrogels have received intensive interest in soft tissue repair, especially for preventing infections associated with impaired wound healing. However, developing an inherent antibacterial hydrogel dressing with antifouling ability without causing secondary damage to repaired tissues has proven to be promising and challenging. In this work, a mussel-inspired zwitterionic sulfobetaine acrylamide hydrogel incorporated with laponite (LAP) nanoplatelets and methacrylamide dopamine (DMA) has been developed for effective wound dressings, where LAP nanoplatelets and DMA endow the hydrogel with enhanced mechanical strength and substance adhesiveness, respectively. Moreover, LAP nanoplatelets could immobilize hydrophobic curcumin to form complexes, realizing the controlled release of curcumin to provide antimicrobial activities. In vitro results showed that hydrogels did not cause obvious cytotoxicity and hemolysis, but they still can well resist bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption. Wound closure and histopathological experiments have been performed in vivo to evaluate the therapeutic effects of the hydrogel by a full-thickness skin defect mouse model, and the results demonstrated that infected wounds could be well closed after being treated with the hydrogel for 15 days. Meanwhile, the full re-epithelialization and total formation of new connective tissues can be clearly observed by histological analysis. Moreover, the hydrogel could be easily removed from recovered tissues without causing secondary damage. Brensocatib Therefore, this antifouling and antimicrobial hydrogel dressing with suitable adhesiveness would provide a new strategy for wound healing without causing secondary damage. The ambient stability and processability of organic solar cells (OSCs) are important factors for their commercialization. Herein, we selected four benzo[1,2-b4,5-b’]difuran (BDF) polymers and two electron acceptors to examine the role of photovoltaic materials in the ambient stability. The investigations revealed that the MoOx layer is the detrimental factor for the ambient stabilities. The penetration of MoOx into the active layer and their interactions will strengthen the interface and form a favorable contact, hence leading to the increased photovoltaic performance, in which the efficiency loss induced by air was balanced out. As such, these BDF polymer-based non-fullerene (NF) OSCs possessed very promising ambient stabilities even after ∼1000 h with the almost maintained power conversion efficiencies (PCEs). These results drive us to further investigate the ambient processability of these NF-OSCs. The PCEs from the devices processed under ambient condition only possessed 0.3-2% loss compared to those devices under inert conditions, which suggest the significant potentials of BDF polymers to develop highly efficient and stable NF-OSCs for the practical applications.
