Inflammation and oxidative stress are among the key pathways underlying this correlation. Therefore, the present study was aimed to assess the effect of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound naringenin (NGN) against chronic sleep deprivation (CSD)-induced mechanical and thermal hyperalgesia in female Swiss albino mice. In this study, mice were chronically sleep-deprived for 8 h a day for five days a week with the weekend as a free sleep period and continued for nine weeks using a modified multiple platform method. The pain behavioral tests were conducted at the end of the fourth week to assess the development of hyperalgesia followed by the administration of NGN and a combination of NGN with Sirtinol (SIR, a sirtuin1 inhibitor) till the end of the study. After nine weeks, pain behavioral tests, along with oxidative stress and inflammatory parameters in cortex and striatum, were assessed. Results indicated that CSD-induced hyperalgesia in mice accompanied by increased oxidative stress and inflammatory markers in cortex and striatum of the brain. NGN combatted the hyperalgesic response and also decreased levels of oxidative stress and inflammatory markers. Furthermore, the pharmacological effect of NGN was mitigated with SIR. Thus, the findings of the present study reveal that NGN is acting via sirtuin1 to exert its antinociceptive activity against CSD-induced hyperalgesia.Auditory neural impairment is a key clinical feature of Friedreich’s Ataxia (FRDA). We aimed to characterize the phenotypical spectrum of the auditory impairment in FRDA in order to facilitate early identification and timely management of auditory impairment in FRDA patients and to explore the relationship between the severity of auditory impairment with genetic variables (the expansion size of GAA trinucleotide repeats, GAA1 and GAA2), when controlled for variables such as disease duration, severity of the disease and cognitive status. Twenty-seven patients with genetically confirmed FRDA underwent baseline audiological assessment (pure-tone audiometry, otoacoustic emissions, auditory brainstem response). Twenty of these patients had additional psychophysical auditory processing evaluation including an auditory temporal processing test (gaps in noise test) and a binaural speech perception test that assesses spatial processing (Listening in Spatialized Noise-Sentences Test). Patients with GAA1 greater than 500 repeats had more severe auditory temporal and spatial processing deficits, leading to poorer speech perception. Yazd is located in the center of Iran, the south of the Dasht-e Kavir and the west of the Dasht-e Lut; accordingly it has a hot, dry climate with long summers. In the present study, 18 strains of Actinobacteria isolated from 60 soil samples from Yazd-Iran. Pure isolates were screened for antibacterial activity against the ATCC strains by using two methods single line streak method and spot inoculation method. ATCC strains include four antibiotic resistant ATCC strains (Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and, Acinetobacter baumannii) and three antibiotic sensitive strains (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli) and, Bacillus subtilis. Seven isolates exhibited antimicrobial activity against the ATCC strains (38.8%). Identification of type I and type II polyketide synthases (pksI, pksII) and nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) genes were done for these 7 isolates and all of 7 strains, possessed at least one of these genes.
