Telemental health is a viable solution to reducing these disparities, but quality research demonstrating its effectiveness is needed. The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the feasibility of a telemental health approach in a rural region of Brazil. Primary care providers referred patients diagnosed with depression and anxiety to a 12-session family systems-oriented telemental health program developed by the researchers. Participants (n = 10) received therapy by family systems trained therapists. While sessions were delivered via telemental health, each received one face-to-face session as part of the treatment regimen. Results from the one-tailed t-tests indicate reductions in psychosocial symptoms and improvements in family functioning with medium and large effect sizes. Findings reveal that a family systems-oriented telemental health approach is a promising intervention for improving mental health outcomes in a middle-income country.
Left atrial wall thickness (LAWT) has been related to pulmonary vein (PV) reconnections after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. The aim was to integrate 3D-LAWT maps in the navigation system and analyze the relationship with local reconnection sites during AF-redo procedures.
Consecutive patients referred for AF-redo ablation were included. Procedure was performed using a single catheter technique. LAWT maps obtained from multidetector computerized tomography (MDCT) were imported into the navigation system. LAWT of the circumferential PV line, the reconnected segment and the reconnected point, were analyzed.
Sixty patients [44 (73%) male, age 61 ± 10 years] were included. All reconnected veins were isolated using a single catheter technique with 55 min (IQR 47-67) procedure time and 75 s (IQR 50-120) fluoroscopy time. Mean LAWT of the circumferential PV line was 1.46 ± 0.22mm. The reconnected segment was thicker than the rest of segments of the circumferential PV line (2.05 + 0.86vs. 1.47 + 0.76, p<.001 for the LPVs; 1.55 + 0.57vs. 1.27 + 0.57, p<.001 for the RPVs). Mean reconnection point wall thickness (WT) was at the 82nd percentile of the circumferential line in the LPVs and at the 82nd percentile in the RPVs.

However, whether and how host-derived lactate affects intestinal epithelial homeostasis is still not completely understood. Here, we investigated how L-lactate, mainly produced by host cells, regulates intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) migration to promote intestinal wound healing. Using video microscopy and tracking individual cells, we found that L-lactate enhanced IEC migration in direction persistence and speed. Mechanistically, L-lactate promoted IEC mitochondrial ATP production. The mitochondrial ATP synthase inhibitor, oligomycin, significantly decreased IEC persistence and speed, which inhibited cell migration induced by L-lactate. Furthermore, administering mice with L-lactate suppressed colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that host-derived L-lactate promotes IEC mitochondrial ATP production to drive cell migration, promoting intestinal wound healing to alleviate intestinal inflammation.We have recently reported two different methodologies that improve sperm functionality. The first method involved transient exposure to the Ca2+ ionophore A23187 , and the second required sperm incubation in the absence of energy nutrients (starvation). Both methods were associated with an initial loss of motility followed by a rescue step involving ionophore removal or addition of energy metabolites, respectively. In this work, we show that starvation is accompanied by an increase in intracellular Ca2+ ([Ca2+ ]i ). Additionally, the starved cells acquire a significantly enhanced capacity to undergo a progesterone-induced acrosome reaction. Electrophysiological measurements show that CatSper channel remains active in starvation conditions. However, the increase in [Ca2+ ]i was also observed in sperm from CatSper null mice. Upon starvation, addition of energy nutrients reversed the effects on [Ca2+ ]i and decreased the effect of progesterone on the acrosome reaction to control levels. Understanding couple therapists’ experiences with teletherapy is important for optimizing future telehealth delivery with couples. Deruxtecan Thus, the purpose of this mixed methods survey study was to explore couple therapists’ experiences of transitioning from in-person/traditional therapy to online/telehealth delivery. A total of 58 couple therapists completed an online survey for this study. Reported are both quantitative and qualitative findings. Overall, this study found that couple therapists experienced a positive shift from traditional/in-person therapy to online/telehealth therapy, with a majority of couple therapists (74%) reporting they would continue providing teletherapy after the novel Coronavirus pandemic and social distancing regulations had ended. Thematic analysis was used to identify themes from couple therapists’ experiences related to advantages, challenges, and recommendations for practice.
