Several randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have evaluated the use of dexmedetomidine versus fentanyl as adjuvants to ropivacaine for epidural anaesthesia, yet the results are conflicting. We aimed to conduct this meta-analysis to assess the effects and safety of dexmedetomidine and fentanyl as adjuvants to ropivacaine for epidural anaesthesia.
Cochrane Library et al databases were searched from inception to Jan 28, 2020. The synthesised effect sizes were presented as mean difference (MD) or odd of risk (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI).
Nine RCTs with a total of 672 patients were included. The synthesised results indicated that the mean time to the onset of sensory block (MD -2.82, 95% CI (-4.84, -0.80)), and the time to maximum motor block (MD -4.35, 95% CI (-7.31, -1.40)) in dexmedetomidine group was significantly less than that of fentanyl group, while the mean time to rescue analgesia in dexmedetomidine group was significantly increased (MD 99.13, 95% CI (82.89, 115.37)). The incidence of nausea and vomiting (OR 0.43, 95% CI (0.29, 0.66)), and shivering (OR 0.34, 95% CI (0.18, 0.63)) in dexmedetomidine group was significantly reduced, yet the incidence of oral dryness in dexmedetomidine group was significantly increased OR 5.31, 95% CI (1.69, 16.69)).

However, some of these effectors become recognized by host receptors to mount a defence response and establish immunity. Recently, a novel resistance was identified in wild tomato, mediated by the single dominant V2 locus, to control strains of the soil-borne vascular wilt fungus Verticillium dahliae that belong to race 2. With comparative genomics of race 2 strains and resistance-breaking race 3 strains, we identified the avirulence effector that activates V2 resistance, termed Av2. We identified 277 kb of race 2-specific sequence comprising only two genes encoding predicted secreted proteins that are expressed during tomato colonization. Subsequent functional analysis based on genetic complementation into race 3 isolates and targeted deletion from the race 1 isolate JR2 and race 2 isolate TO22 confirmed that one of the two candidates encodes the avirulence effector Av2 that is recognized in V2 tomato plants. Two Av2 allelic variants were identified that encode Av2 variants that differ by a single acid. Thus far, a role in virulence could not be demonstrated for either of the two variants.
Today, human beings are exposed to the ELF magnetic field of electrical equipment and power lines, which can damage Leydig cells and alter the secretion of reproductive hormones. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between exposure to ELF magnetic field and the level of some reproductive hormones in male power plant workers.
The present cross-sectional study was carried out among all male employees of different units of the selected power plant around Tehran, Iran. click here All participants were asked to complete demographic data sheets and General Health questionnaire, on condition of consent and meeting the inclusion criteria. Time-weighted average (TWA) exposure to magnetic field of 122 men was measured by IEEE Std C95.3.1 method using TES 1393 Gauss meter. Based on the exposure level, subjects were divided into three groups. Serum Levels of Free Testosterone, Luteinizing Hormone (LH), and Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) in participants were determined. Data analysis was performed using ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis tests, and the relationships between variables were assessed by linear regression and correlation using SPSS v.25 software.
There was no significant statistical correlation between the level of ELF exposure and serum levels of free testosterone, LH, and FSH, (r=0.158). Serum levels of LH decreased significantly with age and duration of work experience (P<.05, r=-.25, P=.005, r=-.203, P=.025).

This study investigated the effects of nitrogen fertilizer on oil yield, fatty acid compositions and antioxidant activity of P. ostii. Oil yield (33.46 %), oleic acid (25.12 %), linoleic acid (29.21 %) and α-linolenic acid (43.12 %) reached the maximum at N450 treatment, with significant differences compared with other treatments (P less then 0.05). Furthermore, strong antioxidant activity with low DPPHIC50 value (19.43±1.91 μg mL-1 ) and large ABTS value (1216.53±30.21 μmol Trolox g-1 ) and FRAP value (473.57±9.11 μmol Trolox g-1 ) was also observed at N450. Palmitic acid (5.57 %) and stearic acid (2.02 %) reached a maximum at N375, but not significant with N450 (P less then 0.05). Nitrogen fertilizer could promote oil yield, fatty acid accumulation and antioxidant activity, and N450 (450 kg ha-1 ) is recommended as the optimum application for P.
