    Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a novel imaging modality that provides microstructural information of different tissue layers using near-infrared light. This prospective, multicenter phase II trial aimed to assess the accuracy of OCT-assisted cystoscopy for bladder tumor staging.

Firstly, this review considers the diagnosis of prostate cancer through use of microfluidic systems and analyses the detection of prostate specific antigen, proteins, and circulating tumor cells to highlight the scope of current advancements. Secondly, this review analyses progressions in the understanding of prostate cancer physiology and considers techniques used to aid treatment of prostate cancer, such as the creation of a micro-environment. Finally, this review highlights potential future roles of microfluidics in assisting prostate cancer, such as in exosomal analysis. In conclusion, this review shows the vast scope and application of microfluidic systems and how these systems will ensure advancements to future prostate cancer management.

    Current treatment of potentially resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) includes pancreatic resection followed by adjuvant therapy. Aim of this study is to identify factors that are related with overall and early recurrence after pancreatectomy for PDAC.

    Retrospective analysis of patients with histologically confirmed PDAC who underwent pancreatectomy between September 2009 and December 2014. Early relapse was defined as recurrence within 12 months after surgery. Univariate/multivariate analysis was performed to identify prognostic factors for recurrence.

    261 patients were included (54% males, mean age 67 years). Neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatments were performed in 55 (21%) and 243 (93%) patients. Overall morbidity was 56% with a rate of grade 3-4 Clavien-Dindo complications of 25%. Median disease-free survival was 18 months.     Hepatectomy combined with intraoperative radiofrequency ablation (IORFA) is a strategy to eliminate all tumors in patients with multiple colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). This study aimed to evaluate the surgical and oncological outcomes of hepatectomy+IORFA for multiple unresectable CRLM.

    We included patients who underwent combined hepatectomy and IORFA for multiple unresectable CRLM (n=67) or hepatectomy alone (n=268) for CRLM. Patients were matched in a 11 propensity score analysis to compare the short- and long-term outcomes between groups.
