Moreover, the in vitro spiked experiment was also subjected to documented bio-analytical validation procedures.HopQ is an outer-membrane protein of Helicobacter pylori that binds to human carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell-adhesion molecules (CEACAMs) with high specificity. We aimed to investigate fluorescence targeting of CEACAM-expressing colorectal tumors in patient-derived orthotopic xenograft (PDOX) models with fluorescently labeled recombinant HopQ (rHopQ). Western blotting, flow cytometry and ELISA were performed to determine the efficiency of rHopQ binding to CEACAMs. rHopQ was conjugated to IR800DyeCW (rHopQ-IR800). Nude mice received orthotopic implantation of colon cancer tumors. Three weeks later, mice were administered 25 μg or 50 μg HopQ-IR800 and imaged 24 or 48 h later. Intravital images were analyzed for tumor-to-background ratio (TBR). Flow cytometry and ELISA demonstrated binding of HopQ to CEACAM1, 3 and 5. Dose-response intravital imaging in PDOX models demonstrated optimal results 48 h after administration of 50 μg rHopQ-IR800 (TBR = 3.576) in our protocol. Orthotopic models demonstrated clear tumor margins of primary tumors and small regional metastases with a mean TBR = 3.678 (SD ± 1.027). rHopQ showed specific binding to various CEACAMs in PDOX models. rHopQ may be useful for CEACAM-positive tumor and metastasis detection for pre-surgical diagnosis, intra-operative imaging and fluorescence-guided surgery.

Immune function strongly influences the outcome of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It’s vital to understand the immune state of patients through detecting the percentage and number of lymphocyte subsets accurately, and helpful to evaluate conditions of prognosis and adjust treatment for patients.

We conducted a retrospective cohort study in First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Tianjin, China. The absolute counts and percentages of CD3+, CD3 + CD4+, CD3 + CD8+, B and NK cells were determined by single platform technologies. 172 patients received treatment including surgery or chemotherapy after surgery. The factors affecting disease progression were analyzed by Binary Logistic regression. Progression free survival (PFS) calculating survivals were with the method of Kaplan-Meier. The log-rank test and cox’s proportional hazard regression (enter method) were used for univariable and multivariable analyses respectively.

Relative to normal controls,ch lymphocyte subsets. Immune function was impaired in patients with non-small cell lung. The high level of baseline absolute CD3 + CD4+ cells count contributed to longer progression free survival. Chinese Clinic Trial Registry number ChiCTR-IOR-17014139; Registry date 2017/12/25.

Diabetes and hypertension are common chronic diseases that affect about one fifth of Sudanese adults. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of hypertension among Sudanese individuals with diabetes.

This a survey in diabetes healthcare facility-based study that recruited 266 individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM). Data was collected using a standardized pretested questionnaire, and was analyzed by performing descriptive and inferential statistics through SPSS program.

The study showed that average age of participants was 58.7 (±10.5 SD) years, males were 59% and most of the participants (72.6%) from urban areas. Diabetes for 1-5 years was observed in 10.9% and for more than 11 years in 71.4%. The majority (91.7%) had type 2 diabetes mellitus while only (8.3%) had type 1 diabetes. The prevalence of hypertension was 47.7% among the study group, this was significantly associated with age (p value 0.016), and retinopathy (p value 0.001). Logistic regression analysis showed that age, body mass index (BMI), serum creatinine and retinopathy had statistically significant associations with the presence of hypertension (p values 0.002,0,016, 0.008,0.001) respectively.

Prevalence of hypertension in Sudanese patients with diabetes presenting to diabetes clinic was 47.7%, and it increased with age and presence of retinopathy. Risk factors of hypertension were age, body mass index (BMI), serum creatinine and retinopathy.

His brain MRI revealed diffuse high signal intensity in the white matter with some cortical involvement in the dorsolateral prefrontal area and middle frontal gyrus on FLAIR sequence, which were only confined to the left hemisphere. In his whole exome sequencing, a hemizygous variant, NM_001185081.1c.1216C>T, was detected on FMR1 gene of Xq27.3, which creates a stop codon at codon 406 in exon 13. The variant is classified as pathogenic according to the recommendation of ACMG/AMP guideline. This is the first case report of the patient presenting with seizure, who had a pathogenic variant on FMR1 gene with diffuse cerebral white matter involvements in the unilateral hemisphere.Cooling circuits in many industrial sectors are faced with daily issues of scaling. One preventive treatment consists in injecting a polymer additive in the circuit to inhibit precipitation of calcium carbonate. Among the used additives, very few are “green” and the efficiency of new candidates are difficult to test directly in industrial conditions. The present study compared performance between two “green” polymer additives, polyaspartic acid (PASP) and polyepoxysuccinic acid (PESA), versus a traditional gold-standard, homopolymer of acrylic acid (HA) in a laboratory scale set-up designed to be representative of an industrial circuit. Results showed that HA and PASP are both inhibitors of calcium carbonate crystal growth. This inhibition resulted from adsorption of polymer additive molecules on the crystal surface, as confirmed by adsorption measurement. Under the same conditions, PESA additive, showed a high rate of calcium ion complexation and a very low inhibition rate. click here But, PESA was shown to be a nucleation delayer.
